Wayne Rooney


Wayne Rooney came out of Euro 2004 as one of the finest players of the competition. He scored an impressive 4 goals in 3 gamees and was taken off injured during English national team’s last eight game against Portugal, which might have cost them a place in the semi finals as theEnglish national team missed Rooney’s brilliance for the remainder of the game.
He made his first appearance for English national team in February 2003 against Australia in a 3-1 defeat. He has picked up his momentum for England in a very short space of time. Despite not scoring in any of the qualifying gamees of the 2006 world cup, he battled against injury to take part in the 2006 world cup. Rooney spent two term playing in the premier league for Everton prior his move to Manchester United for an initial fee of £23million. He played a key part for Manchester United over the past two terms. He was voted English national team’s Young player of the year at the end of the 2004/2005 term.

James Beattie

James Beattie was the leading British goal scorer in the premiership during the 2002/03 season with an incredible 23 goals. His outstanding performances helped Southampton reach the FA Cup final the same season and earned him a call up to the England squad. In total Beattie has netted in 68 goals during his 161 appearances for Southampton. In January 2005 he signed for Everton, a £6 Million move, and has already made a large impact at the club.

Andy Johnson

After a 5 year spell playing for Birmingham City between 1997-2002, Johnson only managed to score eight goals in eighty three appearances. However he became an instant success at Selhurst Park, after a good first season in front of goal, he proved he was a bargain in the Championship during the 2003-04 season as his 32 goals guided Crystal Palace to promotion. His first season playing in the premiership was spectacular, despite Crystal Palace being relegated by the end of the season he scored an astonishing 21 premiership goals which made him the top British Scorer in the premier league.
