Kevin Ratcliffe

During the 80’s, Ratcliffe was one of the quickest and most polished central defender in British Football. Ratcliffes development was steady; however it was not until 1984 that his true potential emerged. By that time, he was a vital part of Howard Kendall’s team, forming a solid partnership with Derek Mountfield. Everton’s FA Cup final victory was his first major honour. His team also reached the FA Cup final the following year; however they were defeated 1-0. The same year he won the European Cup Winners Cup with Everton.

Neville Southall

Southall moved to Everton at the start of the 1981-82 season and quickly established himself as undisputed first choice. In May 1984, Everton faced Watford in the FA Cup Final. Southall was in top form as the Toffeemen won the final 2-0. His brilliant form helped Everton to the league title and European Cup Winners Cup the following season. They also faced Manchester United in the FA Cup final, hoping to complete a unique treble. Stalemate at full time resulted in extra time and it took a great goal to beat Southall to win the FA Cup.

Andy Gray

Gray began his career playing for Dundee united prior his move to Aston Villa. His brilliance at Aston Villa earned him a record transfer to Wolves for £1.5 million in 1979. He became an instant success at the club, scoring the winning goal in the 1980 league cup final. In 1983 he moved to Everton for a bargain of £250000. His spell at Everton was very successful, he won the FA Cup with the club in 1984 and the following year he helped them win the league title and the European Cup Winners Cup.
