Everton 6-0 Chelsea
Date Played – April 29th 1978

This proved to be a memorable league match for the Toffemen as they sailed to victory over Chelsea. Everton dominated the early moments of the match and soon found themselves in front through a fine goal scored by Martin Dobson. Neil Robinson scored the Blues second before Billy Wright secured victory scoring the third of the encounter. Early in the second half, Bobby Latchford scored from a great header and the score line was now 4-0. With only ten minutes remaining, Mick Lyons turned the game into a rout as he scored Everton’s fifth goal of the match. With five minutes remaining, Mick Lyons once again went down in the box and the star of the show, Bobby Latchford, stepped up and coolly converted the penalty as Everton won this classic league encounter 6-0.
