Everton started off the 1970’s in a complete different manner than they did in their previous season. The 1969-70 campaign witnessed the triumph of winning the league title. However the 1970-71 campaign was a debacle, they only managed to finish 14th in the league, a serious downfall from the previous season. Their only delight was their good form in the FA Cup which was terminated by their arch rivals, Liverpool. They were thrashed in the semi finals, 3-0 against the Reds. Between 1972 and 1975, Everton’s FA Cup runs were poor; their best show was reaching the last sixteen during the 1974-75 season. Everton took a further dip in league form, until the 1974 -75 season, which saw a huge improvement. Everton finished forth in the league and were now a force to be reckoned with in English football.
